a new season of art

Mixed media work is coming into my future with the new YWAM Denver art school starting up in June. This school will have training each week with different art techniques as well as practical ways to use it in the mission field. I will be teaching the mixed media week....and so I thought I would start by doing a few projects myself. This is my journal cover. I am very happy with the way it turned out.
Here are some excerpts from my journal itself. I was using colored pencil on black! Nice.

This was an idea I had to communicate what I feel my life purpose is. I am to be a source of light as well as receive inspiration from God and His creation, I respond to that inspiration and then release it out into the world....creatively. It was cool that the logo was used on the t-shirts of the recent Musicians DTS. The logo looked more like a fun jelly fish! Ha!
During the summer quarter I was asked to paint a few prophetic words that were given to the mission base I work with. This was one of the paintings I finished (and liked). The word was about YWAM as a pregnant woman. The way that God created it to be when a woman gives birth is that she must go through preparation and growth internally first before the baby is ready to come out. If a ministry like YWAM is going to birth healthy things we must not try to push the ideas (babies) out before they are ready...and before God has done all the preparations for it. I thought it as a very unique concept and fun to be able to paint and share with the community. I just pray that I am not trying to birth things early too. I think my heart ache at this point is that I am keeping the baby inside too long. I think it is time to start birthing a few things that God has prepared in my heart!
